Aiming at the current market pain points of high installation costs for all-vanadium flow batteries and limited vanadium resources, Zhonghe Energy has independently developed high-performance and low-cost sulfur iron flow battery technology. The core innovation of this technology lies in the use of a pure liquid sulfur iron electrolyte system, avoiding the generation of metal dendrites during charging and discharging that can damage batteries or reduce capacity. The electrolyte cost is 85% lower than that of mainstream all-vanadium flow batteries. Under the premise of inherent safety and low cost, it can achieve application scenarios covering a storage duration of 6-12 hours. Moreover, iron and sulfur resources are abundant, with no resource limitation pressure and stable prices.
As the world's earliest company to commercialize sulfur iron battery technology, the sulfur iron battery technology verification system jointly implemented with State Grid has been stably operating for two months, with all performance indicators meeting design requirements. The company will construct a megawatt-hour level engineering demonstration project in 2025.
