January 11, 2025 — The 2024 University of Hong Kong International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Finals, jointly organized by the China Business College and the Science and Innovation Center of the University of Hong Kong, concluded in grand fashion at the Li Ka Shing Conference Center Auditorium of the University of Hong Kong. The participating project "High-Performance, Low-Cost Sulfur-Iron Flow Battery Long-Duration Energy Storage Technology" from ZH Energy Storage secured the runner-up position in the Growth Group. It also stood out for its outstanding performance and significant achievements in the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies, fulfillment of social responsibilities, and commitment to eco-friendliness, winning the ESG Excellence Award.
Innovative Long-Duration Energy Storage: Empowering a Green Future

At this critical moment of global energy transition, breaking through key core technologies and promoting cost reduction of flow batteries have become the core driving forces for the widespread adoption and efficient utilization of green energy. ZH Energy Storage adheres to the principle of independent technological innovation, achieving efficiency improvement and cost reduction through innovations in key materials, enhanced battery performance, and optimized system integration. The company has prioritized mastering core technologies such as non-fluorinated ion exchange membranes, high-power-density cell stacks, and new sulfur-iron electrolytes.
On the application side, ZH Energy Storage continuously explores and expands different application scenarios, offering solutions for high-safety-level energy storage, integrated photovoltaic-storage-charging systems, and independent shared energy storage power stations. Previously, a 250kW/1MWh energy storage power station built by ZH Energy Storage was equipped with real-time environmental benefit monitoring. According to backend data from over a month of operation, the project has achieved a CO₂ emission reduction of 30.88 tons, equivalent to 1,630 green plants, and saved 11.33 tons of standard coal. These figures will continue to increase as the system operates, generating better environmental benefits and realizing the project's "green application."
