The first China Long Term Energy Storage Conference, with the theme of "Towards a New Era of Energy Storage: The Rise of Long Term Energy Storage", was held grandly in Changzhou from November 23rd to 24th. The conference brought together more than 500 representatives from over 200 units in the field of long-term energy storage to discuss the industrialization development of various types of long-term energy storage technologies. As a senior expert with over 20 years of experience in the field of liquid flow batteries and long-term energy storage, Dr. Xie Wei, founder and chief scientist of ZH Energy Storage, was invited to attend the conference and give a keynote speech.

On the 23rd, Yan Chuanwei, a researcher of the Institute of Metals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the chief scientist of Liaoning Kejing New Materials Co., Ltd., presided over a group dialogue on the theme of "key issues and coping strategies for the development of liquid flow battery energy storage". Dr. Xie Wei, as an industry expert, was invited to participate in the group dialogue.

"It is a great honor to be invited to participate in the first China Long Term Energy Storage Conference. Under the banner of long-term energy storage, we are no longer just focusing on the current 2-4 hour energy storage, but will focus on the future demand for a longer period of time. With the increasing proportion of China's wind and solar power generation in the power grid, we will soon have a demand for 6-hour and 8-hour energy storage. On November 18th, Inner Mongolia released the implementation rules for independent energy storage, which for the first time introduced the requirement that the continuous discharge time of end of grid energy storage stations should not be less than 8 hours, officially opening the policy of 8-hour energy storage."

On the 24th, Dr. Xie Wei gave a special speech on the development and industrialization of new key materials for flow batteries, introducing the products under development for neutralizing energy storage, including graphite felt electrodes with loaded catalysts, low-cost non fluorine ion exchange membranes, and low-cost sulfur iron electrolytes. The company hopes to achieve the goal of cost reduction and efficiency improvement through the iteration of key materials for flow batteries, and combined with the industry division of labor and the cost reduction effect of large-scale production, it is expected to reduce the initial installation cost of flow batteries to a level similar to that of lithium batteries within 3 years. On this price basis, liquid flow batteries have the safety advantage of zero risk of combustion and explosion, as well as a lifespan 2-3 times longer than lithium batteries, making them the most competitive electrochemical energy storage technology that can meet the economic requirements of long-term energy storage in the future.
